Have you ever realized how many brands of ketchup you can find in an average supermarket? And do you realise that you always buy the same brand? Why? Because brands help you make your decision: they subconsciously showcase characteristics that make you decide to buy.

The same counts for vacancies. Do you realise how many companies are looking for IT professionals? How do you think ‘the perfect candidate’ will decide to read your vacancy, let alone apply at your company? It’s already in that early stage that your employer brand will make the difference. A clear employer brand not only helps to make you an employer of choice (quantity of candidates) but it also helps a candidate to instantly know what to expect when working for you (quality of candidates).

2. Higher loyalty
Research shows that companies with a strong focus on employer branding have lower turnover rates. I dare to say that this has two reasons: firstly, companies who value their employer brand, do focus more on employee satisfaction, thus creating an inspiring environment to work.

Secondly, a good EVP comes with strong values hence a strong identity. When there is a match with your employees, they will feel good at work and stay around.

3. Guidance
A strong identity provides strong guidance. When you know what your company stands for, it is easier to handle appropriately. This will aid and accelerate decision making on all levels.

4. Happy customers
It’s not only the product that your customer is buying, he is also doing business with your employees. Every interaction with your company builds your company image, and an engaged employee “infects” the customer in a positive way. So, treating your employees well will also benefit your business.

5. It’s a time-consuming effort
Rome wasn’t built in one day, and so isn’t your employer brand. An identity takes form in many small steps over a longer period of time. So you’d better start right away!
