A significant number of companies are now offering their employees the opportunity to adapt their working hours to suit the holiday periods of their family. This implies that businesses are flexible with granting leave during the summer, Easter and Christmas periods. This policy, known within HR under its English name "term-time working" is currently on a steady rise within the HR departments of major corporations, not only in our country but throughout Europe.
(36%) only provide on request from employees. While France lags behind the furthest with only 8% of French Top Employers that formally offer term time working, and 6% on demand. However, it appears that the percentage for our southern neighbours is experiencing a yearly increase.
"In comparison to statistics generated by the Top Employers studies of recent years, we see an increase throughout Europe in the application of term time working within HR," says Samantha Crous, Regional Director Benelux of the Top Employers Institute. "If we take a look at the numbers from four years ago, there is actually proof of a gigantic step forward. After all, these days a lot of flexibility is expected from employees, and it is logical that they would expect the same flexibility from their employer in return. Term-time working is one of the elements that certified Top Employers use to distinguish themselves as an employer, "says Crous.
