On 29 August 2013, the Top Employers in South Africa and Top Employers Africa were Certified at Gallagher Estate, Johannesburg amongst a 550-strong audience of the country’s leading brands, business and HR executives. The glamorous event, hosted by the Top Employers Institute and emceed by Vusi Thembakwayo, is the largest Certification Dinner at the Institute to date. The event is a culmination of months of rigorous research, validation and auditing into the conditions employers created for their people to grow and develop, as framed and managed by HR policy. The Peninsula Beverage Company is an independent bottler, licensed by The Coca-Cola Company to manufacture and distribute Coca-Cola and related products in the Western Cape and Northern Cape. Family-owned PenBev officially opened for business in 1940 and for the third time in four years joins leading local employers and multinational brands in the Top Ten.
The Top Employers Certification is only awarded to organisations that achieve the highest standards of excellence in employee conditions. The Certification process comprises a comprehensive analysis of an organisation’s HR environment: strategy, policy implementation, monitoring and communication of employee conditions and development.
